My new Singer Model 99. I bought this off Craigslist for an obscenely low price, and now I'm working on cleaning it up and getting it to work. I've got a foot pedal on the way to help with the getting it to work part. The Model 99 is made for a knee control that you put into the right front part of the case, but these are very hard to find and kind of expensive. (If anyone has one or finds one, let me know!) Luckily, you can retrofit it with a foot pedal, so hopefully once I get that in, I'll be off and running. I'm also thinking I'm going to have to take the motor apart and tune it up a bit before it runs really well. Right now, I just sit and look at it and force Ben to once again confirm that yes, it is really pretty. We've also been doing a little antiquing in order to furnish our new house. Last weekend, we found two fabulous mid-century modern slipper chairs.
One of the first things I want to sew on my beautiful Singer is a slipcover for each of these. Eventually, I want to reupholster them, but we have a pukey cat (who has claimed these chairs for his own), so for now, slipcovers it is.
We also found a great lamp for the library (which is what we're calling one of our extra rooms.)Besides accruing more stuff for our new place, I'm just soaking up Spring. My sad little African violets (these little guys were the favors at my wedding shower, so I'm determined to keep them alive) have been re-potted and are starting to look a little happier.

And last but now least, I'm very happy (and feel much lighter) after the big haircut.
This is the post-shower, sitting on the couch drinking coffee, un-stylized shot. You get the idea. I love short haircuts where you can blow it dry and make it look all polished, or you can just muss it up and look all casual and weekend-y. If you've never had a cut like this, I highly recommend it.Alright, now that I've performed my duties as a diligent knit-blogger, I'm going to go do some actual knitting!
